Sold out · returns at the door
On a tidal island off the northern coast, a family spends one summer raking salt from the shallows while the eldest daughter plans her escape on the mail boat. Vael shot with the islanders themselves, and their faces carry the film. A quiet, weather-beaten debut that was thought lost for sixty years and opens this year’s festival.
Restored in 4K from a nitrate print found in a fish-processing plant archive, 2026.

Hollow Choir
Voice and harmonium trio
A trio who sing in close harmony over a pump harmonium and field recordings of the sea. Their score for The Salt Harvest was written on the island where the film was shot.
